Meet The Therapist

James Lentini, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker | Drug & Addiction Specialist

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing therapy for individuals, couples, and adolescents, with a particular focus on addiction and recovery, men’s mental health, and the emotional challenges that often accompany life transitions. My work is grounded in helping people understand themselves more clearly—how past experiences shape present patterns, how emotions communicate important information, and how relationships can either support or complicate growth.

I draw from evidence-based and insight-oriented approaches to tailor therapy to each person, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all model. I’ve worked in inpatient settings, intensive outpatient programs, and group treatment environments, supporting individuals through addiction recovery, relational strain, and periods of significant change. These experiences have shaped a style that is steady, direct, and compassionate. Before becoming a therapist, I studied athletic training and human physiology, which influences how I think about stress, resilience, and the connection between mental and physical health.

Outside of therapy, I value movement, discipline, creativity, and curiosity—interests that continue to inform how I show up in the room. Therapy is not about being fixed. It’s about learning to orient yourself toward what matters, understanding your patterns with honesty, and building a more intentional relationship with yourself and others. You set the goals. I provide support, structure, and reflection as you move forward.

Understanding What’s Getting in the Way

Questions You May Be Wondering About

What does the first session look like?

The first session is a chance to slow down and get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brought you in, what you’re hoping for, and any questions you have. There’s no pressure to share everything at once—therapy moves at your pace.

Sessions are 60 minutes. Frequency varies depending on your needs and goals—many people begin with weekly sessions and adjust over time as things evolve.

You’ll just need a private, comfortable space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. We’ll use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.

Sessions are currently offered Monday through Friday, between 10am and 6pm.

I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Aetna, and United Health care. If you have questions about coverage or self-pay options, we can discuss this during a consultation.
